A revised edition of a 1988 work published under the title Wolves . Savage, a natural history writer (and award winner), examines the intricacies of wolf societies around the globe, pack structure, sex roles, communication, predatory relationships, and current conservation strategies. The intimate color photographs, however, are worth twice the volume's cost, capturing by lens such amazing spectacles as a mother nursing her young or completing a kill.
